“You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last. Then my Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name.” John 15:16
What is your favorite type of fruit? The kind of fruit that we normally enjoy will eventually go bad, but not the kind of fruit that Jesus is talking about. Consider these three big statements that Jesus makes about you in this passage.
* Jesus CHOSE you.
Think about how great it feels to be picked, chosen, requested and wanted.
* Jesus SENT you.
Think about how much of an honor it is to be trusted, supported, believed in, and given a purpose, meaning and mission.
* Jesus PRODUCES lasting results through you.
Think about all the trivial, fleeting, and feeble things you have attempted to do in your life. Jesus says that the things He will do through you for His Kingdom will be like fruit that never turns rotten, spoils, or expires. Imagine doing something today that will have eternal, everlasting value and impact!
