For The Kingdom: Joy-Filled Living In Difficult Days | Day 33
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11
The Gospel is the Good News that sinful man can be rescued, redeemed and restored into God’s family through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This message is only Good News to those who humbly receive it in this life. There will be a day that even the atheist, agnostic and antagonist will bow their heads in worship and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord. On that day, however, it will be too late.
“at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” Philippians 2:11
There is a favorable day to confess Jesus as Lord. There is also a day in which that confession will not be favorable. “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2
Now, in this life, today is the day of salvation. There is no benefit in waiting, weighing out your options, or delaying the decision to be saved by God. No one is promised tomorrow, there is no better time to become a Christian than right now.
How does someone become a Christian? Jesus has made a way for everyone and anyone who would look on Him and call upon His name for salvation. “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:40.
Think about this for a minute…
- There is no entry fee: Jesus paid the price with His blood.
- There are no qualifications: We are saved on the basis of Jesus’ perfect righteousness.
- There are no obstacles: Death has been defeated through Jesus’ resurrection.
- There are no limitations: Everyone can come, regardless of ethnic, social, economic distinction.
So, what is stopping you from looking on Jesus, believing in Him for eternal life and trusting Him to raise you up from the death of your sin and shame, into never-ending love and life?
5 Questions That Will Change Your Life Forever:
Humbly and carefully consider each of these questions. If you are prepared to say “Yes” to each question, than you are ready to become a Christian.
1. Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15
2. Do you believe that Jesus died to pay the price for your sins?
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace” Ephesians 1:7
3. Do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead to conquer death once and for all?
“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
4. Do you believe that only Jesus can forgive your sin and give you eternal life?
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
5. Are you prepared to place your faith in Christ alone and surrender your life to Jesus the Sovereign King today?
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
Did you say “Yes” to each of these questions? If so, what comes next is the most important step of faith you will ever take… Give your “Yes” to Jesus! While there is no magic in a set of words or prayer, there is a miracle waiting for every person who expresses their “Yes” to Jesus in faith. Pray these words to Him now…
“Yes, Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God’s only Son. Yes, Lord Jesus. I believe that You paid the price for my sins. Yes, Lord Jesus, I believe that you rose from the dead to conquer death for me, once and for all. Yes, Lord Jesus, I believe that you alone can forgive my sin and give me eternal life. Yes, Lord Jesus, I place my faith in you alone and surrender my life to you as my Sovereign King. I believe Jesus, thank you for saving me. Amen”
This prayer is the first and most important step in beginning a journey of faith that will take you from this moment into eternity. This journey was never meant to be traveled alone, so make your first priority to find a community of Christian believers who will walk with you, encourage you and support you in your new faith. Congratulations, you are now a child of God, and nothing will ever change that.
“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” John 6:37
